1. Book an impossible connecting flight
This hack is a bit of a gamble but if you can pull it off then you are saving tons of money. The idea is to book a connecting flight that you are sure to miss. Once you do miss the flight, you let the airline company hear some tough words so that they allow you into a more expensive direct flight. For instance, you book a flight from NY to LA for a tight connecting flight to Kansas City. However, when you get to the airport you say that you are worried about missing the flight and ask to be shifted to a direct flight from NY to LA. This is very risky but not impossible. You just need to tell the agents at the gate early on so that they can book you a seat.
