1. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles
This album was a critical success and spent 27 weeks on the top charts in the UK. It also won four Grammy Awards in 1968, including Album of the Year, the first rock LP to receive this honour. It took a departure from the band’s regular style and is influenced by rock and roll, jazz, Indian classical music, blues, avant-garde and other genres. The album was perhaps the very best album of the decade combining creative music with lyrics that revolved around current affairs.
