14. Potala Palace in Tibet
Potala Palace used to be the chief residence of the Dalai Lama which is now a museum. This palace is named after Mount Potalaka which was a mythical home of Lord Avalokiteśvara. It was built with sloping stone walls of average 3 meters thick and copper foundation to prevent earthquakes. Potala Palace is a 13 storied building having over 1000 rooms, 10,000 shrines, and about 200,000 statues. You should not miss visiting this world’s most ancient palace.
