3. Walk Signal Buttons
This signal is mostly useful in all countries except for New York where this is mostly non-functioning. Mostly these buttons are exactly like the elevator close doors button. There is no point in pressing the button and waiting for the signal so you can start crossing the streets. Most of these signals have been replaced long ago with automated systems with set timers. So pressing the button is a mere peace of mind these days, the signal will come up whenever the timer has been set for. The fact that people might start misusing the button and keep pushing it for no reason or jamming the crosswalk is the main reason behind the deactivation.
