5. Goreme, Turkey
Take a break from Istanbul and head over to Goreme instead. This is a quiet, little village that was hollowed out of mountains and has grown into an exciting area to visit. Goreme has amazing rock formations and stunning moonscape valleys with old canals and cobbled roads. The best part? You can view the village from hot air balloons, hundreds of feet overhead.
