7. Aerial view of the Jonestown Massacre
Jonestown was the name of the establishment created by the People’s Temple, an American religious organization in Guyana. Created by Jim Jones, the place, and the name became notorious in 1978 when members of the cult shot a US congressman. Jim Jones then ordered the members of his establishment to commit mass suicide, by drinking cyanide-laced Flavor-Aid. More than 900 people died in Jonestown, making it the largest loss of American life until 9/11.
