6. Appetite and weight changes
Appetite changes occur frequently when depressed. Some people lose their appetites and stop eating. On the other hand, some people start overeating and gain a large amount of weight. Significant weight loss or weight gain, usually a change of more than 5% of body weight in a month is a sign that you may have depression. While some lose their appetite, others eat more in an attempt to spend time and feel less empty. The compulsive urge to eat can cause even greater health problems later on.
