2. Île de Batz, France
The people of Paris love the Île de Ré, but there’s another island off the coast of the Atlantic that’s cheaper and less “chic” but just as nice. Île de Batz is quiet and great for families. It is only 10 minutes from Roscoff and only two miles long from east to west. Rent bikes at the port and ride to Grève Blanche’s white sands. After that, climb the 198 steps to the top of the island’s lighthouse to see the Breton coast from all angles. At the Écuries de Batz, you can do water sports and ride ponies. The rooms at Les Herbes Folles near the port have sea views.
