Long periods of time spent sitting, slouching, and not paying attention to our posture result in a loss of flexibility in our hips and lower back. For your final posture, you can do this one, which can assist stretch the inner thighs, opening up the pelvis, and alleviating any backache you may be experiencing.

  1. Maintain a slight distance between your feet and your hips when you stand.
  2. Squat down until your knees are bent to form a squat position.
  3. Place your upper arms inside your knees so that the elbows of your upper arms rest on the inner area of your knees (see illustration). Bring your palms together in front of your chest and breathe in deeply.
  4. Remember to maintain a straight spine and a calm head.
  5. Maintain this position for at least 20 seconds, or as long as you are able.
  6. If necessary, you can try to utilize a pillow to provide additional support (variation).
