3. The Colon Absorbs 1 Quart of Water a Day
The colon is the organ responsible for completing the process of digestion. Its main function is to absorb water and electrolytes from what’s been passed from the small intestine. This material is formed into a stool that can be passed during the process of a bowel movement.
When someone has diarrhoea, they are passing stool that has not been in the large intestine for long enough. This could happen because the stool is watery and can’t absorb any liquid yet.
Constipation, on the other hand, is when your bowel movements are hard to pass. This happens when you don’t go to the toilet often enough and the stool starts drying out.
