3. Could increase longevity
Some research suggests that coffee’s many possible health benefits could help people live longer. For example, a review of 40 studies found that drinking two to four cups of coffee every day was linked to a lower risk of death, regardless of age, weight, and alcohol use.
Similarly, another study of 1,567 people found that drinking caffeinated coffee was linked to a lower risk of death after 12 and 18 years of follow-up. Also, people who drank at least one cup of coffee per day had a lower chance of dying from cancer.
One test-tube study was interesting because it showed that coffee could protect yeast from free radicals and DNA damage, making it live much longer.
But more research is needed to find out if this could also be true for people.
