5. Twinkie Defense
Ever heard of this legal slang? It was used by the defendant Daniel White’s lawyer in the 1970s, to plea and win a verdict of manslaughter rather than murder after he had killed two men. The killings were attributed to his severe depression, to fight off which he was assigned a diet of Twinkies and other sugar-rich foods, instead of regular food.
