Blackheads are tiny noninflammatory patches with a dark or black hue and appear as raised lumps on the skin. Whiteheads are the exact opposite of blackheads. In most cases, the skin surrounding a blackhead will seem normal, but the blackhead itself will have a darker core.

Causes: The fact that these blemishes are deeper in color does not always suggest that there is more dirt trapped inside the pore where they are located. It’s only a symptom that the pores are expanded, which is caused by hair follicles becoming blocked up in the first place.
