Depression is an illness that is not easily identifiable and can affect anyone. It is a chronic condition that can interfere with how people live their lives, feel, think, and act.

In the United States alone, 18.3 million adults are diagnosed with depression in a given year. In 2013-2014, about 2% of U.S. teens said they had experienced an episode of major depression in the past 12 months.

There are many different types of depression but all have common symptoms such as:

-Loss of interest or pleasure in activities

-Feeling down or blue

-Feeling worthless or guilty

-Lack of energy and motivation

-Difficulty sleeping (insomnia) or too much sleep (hypersomnia)
