6. They speak openly about their vulnerabilities
People relate more to failures than successes, so when a strong personality (eg: your boss) speaks occasionally about a few failures that he had overcome or shares a few embarrassing or silly experiences with others, the listeners cease thinking of him as the god that they have always assumed him to be, and realizes he is just one of them, a simple regular human being, who has his shares of ups and downs. And thus, by sharing their vulnerabilities, they make way to share your feelings with them too.
Also, they are not scared or embarrassed to look or seem silly; for example: your boss may appear completely disheveled on a particular day, and make no qualms about it, and simply say “I did not have a good sleep last night”. Colleagues and subordinates will respect him more for that because they go through similar feelings on certain days.
