Chronic sleep trouble can have some disturbing long-term consequences and one of them is the recently discovered increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Your brain needs to rest sufficiently on a daily basis and that does not happen when you don’t sleep well. When you sleep, the brain cells shrink in size and allow fluid to enter the brain to flush toxins out. The process makes your brain to function properly but when you lack sleep, more beta-amyloid builds up in your brain that can cause memory loss and other mental illnesses.
