5. Dancing Epidemic
In 1518 there was a strange epidemic that broke out in France. It was strange because people were dancing without any purpose. It started off with a woman walking down to the streets and started dancing with no reason and no music either. Within 7 days, 34 others had joined her and in two months there were 400 people. At first, musicians started to play music to join their dancing but at one stage people started to end up with bloody feet and suffered from heart attacks. These people were later shifted to the mountain tops and prayed for recovery. At that time, dancing was thought to be a curse left by St. Vitus but modern historians believe it was caused due to hysteria/ stress panic.
