1. Having a tough time responding to affection or concern
A common misconception about depression is that depressed people feel “sadness”. They often do not. They mostly feel numbness or nothing. They only partially or briefly experience emotions. For this reason, they often struggle to appropriately respond to words of affection or concern. They might even get annoyed with you if you try to show them affection or concern.
