We all use it but we don’t really notice it. The Contacts app is one of the most fundamental features of smartphones. And on iPhones, it has really become so intuitive that we don’t even have to think twice before naturally tapping on that green icon.
Using the Contacts app is very simple. Which is why we don’t really know about the following organizational features making it easier for calling or texting people on the iPhone’s contacts list:
4. Add a Nickname
What if you had two or more people in your contacts list with the same or similar names. In a moment of a hurry, you’d struggle to separate them. Hence the option of adding nicknames to contacts. In addition to keeping first and last names, you get to add a nickname to your contacts. Got a friend who you are not used to calling by their formal names? Just tell Siri their nickname. Here’s how you add nicknames:
- Open the Contacts app
- Tap on the contact card you’d like to add a nickname to
- Tap on “Edit”
- Scroll down and you’ll see “add field”. Tap on it.
- There’ll be an option to select “Nickname” from the menu
- “Nickname” should appear on as a new filed at the top of the contact card now. Just tap on it to add one.
