9. Tabarca, Spain
On Costa Blanca, it’s hard to find quiet. So, go to Tabarca, which is 22 miles from Alicante. There, you’ll find an island with water so clear that it was named the first marine reserve in the country. This paradise without cars can be reached by ferry in 50 minutes. Spend a few days snorkeling and eating fish stew at a beach shack. Then take a walk around the town’s fortified walls.
