1. Borderline Personality Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder, or BPD, is a mental health disorder that typically manifests in adolescence and early adulthood. Symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder include an unstable sense of self, intense moods and feelings, distorted thinking patterns, impulsive behaviour, a need for change in relationships or environments, and fear of abandonment.
People with Borderline Personality Disorder tend to have difficulty regulating their emotions. This can lead to highly reactive emotional states in which they may be either elated or depressed for long periods of time. When they’re feeling down, they may engage in behaviours such as overeating or self-harm to make themselves feel better.
