Standing Near a Window

Now you are safely inside your house or a house. Do not stand near the window. As tempting as it might be to be engrossed in sights and sounds of a thunderstorm, you can get electrocuted through the window hardware and/or frames as they often are built with metal. Stay away from concrete floors and walls, windows and doors. Do not step outside onto a patio or porch either. The National Weather Service states that when you are able to hear thunder, lightning is within striking distance.
